PORTRAITS

Our era marks the absolute reign of portraits. We keep sharing, diffusing, and altering them, particularly in a digital manner. ‘PORTRAITS’ served as juxtaposition to today’s overly edited digital era. Choosing subjects solely via social media platforms, the artists studied the filtered, refined versions of them and stripped away these facades to capture a realness lost in a world of perfectionists.  These photographs take the viewer back to a time when there was no photoshopping and something more genuine was captured.

Rather than ignore the pop-culture soaked phenomenon of 'selflies,' the so-called 'portraits' of social media, this series explores it.
